Phase 1 of our ‘Voidbound’ crusade ended with an afternoon event where I got two more games in. This is the first.
Uzblitz frowned at the scanner readout and watched as Krakdakka’s finger danced excitedly over the image of the enemy ship.
“…Und zo you zee, ve are detektin’ peaks uv radiashon at ziz point ‘ere, und if ve follow ze direction uv ze primary power konduits -”
The ship shook as a spread of missiles impacted the void shields. A shower of sparks erupted from a bridge console for no discernable reason. “Professa, I’z a little busy rite now. We’z in da middle uv a space battle. Wot are you on about?”
Krakdakka sighed. Some Orks just didn’t appreciate the scientific method. “I fink zis iz vere zey keep ze big bombz.”
The Warboss’s eye developed a manic glint. “Prepare ta board.”
This was a Boarding Actions game pitting my Ork Crusade army against (gulp) Custodes, playing the Rad Leak mission.

The custodes moved forward to meet the Ork invaders. A lucky rokkit hit from the Kommandos took half the wounds off the the Blade champion.

Shooting from the custodian guard deleted an entire unit of Boyz in one round. The Blade Champion sped forwards and charged Uzblitz but the warboss survived on two wounds and finished off the champion in exchange. He and all the rest of the Orks in the middle of the board charged the Custodian Guard. Uzblitz killed three of them, but the survivor hit back and took him out before being finished off by the Nobs.

Meanwhile, at the bottom of the board, the Gretchin and Flash Gitz hatched a cunning plan to take care of the Custodian Wardens. The Runtherd held the door closed to block the custodes initial assault, then on the Ork turn pulled it open while the Flash Gitz formed a firing line and unloaded their snazzguns through the portal into the wardens.
It was a brilliant plan which failed utterly, doing no damage and just letting a squad of angry custodes into the room who promptly slaughtered everybody.

Following this, the wardens survived an assault by the Nobz with only one casualty and then moved up to the midboard, easily slaughtering every Ork in their way. By the end of the game only the wardens and a half-squad of Kommandos remained standing, but the Orks were well ahead on points.

Result: Ork victory, 50 to 20
In the after-game the only unit to take a battle scar was (again) Uzblitz, re-gaining the Deep Scars that I’d just paid a bunch of RP to get rid of. Zog.
