+++Analysis of third combat encounter between Tyranid and Imperial forces on the planet of Oghram.  Based on recordings and observations of Skitarii Ranger D-91 (Deceased)+++

Again two separate Tyranid swarms came  together to attack a noble band of Blood Angels and their perfidious Tau allies.  The Imperial/Tau alliance was seeking to protect a lone survivor of White Templar forces who had been previously massacred.

+++ Disposition of Forces +++

Tyranids (Hive Fleet Paracheirodon): Neurotyrant + 3 Zoanthropes, Norn Emissary, Haruspex, 2 x 5 Genestealers, 3 Von Ryan’s Leapers, Tyrannofex

Tyranids (separate strain): Neurotyrant, Broodlord + 10 Genestealers, 10 Hormagaunts, 10 Gargoyles, Lictor, Malceptor, 3 Von Ryan’s Leapers, Tyrannofex

Blood Angels: Captain + Apothecary + 5 Assault Intercessors, Jump Pack Captain + 5 Sanguinary Guard, 2 x 5 Jump Pack Assault Intercessors, 5 Assault Intercessors, Brutalis Dreadnought, 5 Scouts

Tau: (This precise strain of foul Xenos is not my specialism and so I struggle to identify some of their misbegotten technology by sight - some of this may be in error.  Still, I will make an attempt and pray for the Omnissiah’s guidance:) Commander + 3 Crisis Suits, Riptide, 2 Broadsides, 10 Fire Warriors, Devilfish

+++ Battle Event Log +++

The Tyranids advanced forward in a wave of xenos flesh, seeking to access the Imperial base and the White Templar survivor they were seeking before he could be evacuated.

One group of Von Ryan’s attempted to intercept the Blood Angels Dreadnought which was moving to block the centreground.  They were gunned down but a salvo from a Tyrannofex destroyed the war machine instead.  However, the machine spirits took vengeance as the walker exploded, engulfing the nearby swarm in flames.

Blood Angels Sanguinary Guard followed into the fray, cutting down the Maleceptor which had so far weathered the storm of Imperial and Tau shooting.  They also seriously wounded the Haruspex which was following close behind, though several gold-clad veteran marines were swallowed by the churning maw in the process.

A squad of Jump pack marines also assaulted the swarm but were slain by Von Ryan’s Leapers and Genestealers before they could land a single blow.

On the other flank the Zoanthropes moved in and with their psychic blasts did damage to both Tau and Marine squads stationed there.  However a squad of Tau Crisis suits emerged and managed to slay the trio of Psychic abominations, leaving only the Neurotyrant that had been leading them, which survived a little longer before succumbing to the weight of fire.

With the outer line of Blood Angels stripped the horde advanced into the Imperial base and the last line of defence.  Captain Barachiel and his squad bravely counter-charged into the Norn Emissary and Genestealers, inflicting major damage to both but in the process leaving the White Templar Apothecary exposed, meaning that a group of Von Ryan’s Leapers were able to slay him while their backs were turned.

The northern flank crumbled as a Tyrannofex took out a pair of Tau broadsides, allowing a mass of Genestealers, Hormagaunts and Gargoyles to overflow the barricades and swarm the base.

With the White Templar survivor dead and the base overrun, the Tyranids claimed victory.

+++ Aftermath +++

The Tyranid swarm again regenerated its losses after feeding on the biomass of slain Tau and marines.  However, the Neurotyrant does not seem to have fully recovered.  It shows symptoms consistent with those experienced by Imperial troops due to the Shadow in the Warp of its own hive mind.  Very peculiar.

+ Prep my shuttle for immediate takeoff.  The fall of the Imperial base puts this research post at risk.  It is no longer safe for us here.

+ We must evacuate.  Make sure the research data, the experimental pheromone tanks and my personal Massage Servitor are loaded.

+ You of course will stay here to cover our escape and transmit as much data as possible about the assault.

+ Already?  This is outside of projections.  I return vexation.  Very well, we may need to leave behind the pheromone tanks.
